The team has developed electronic healthcare information capture instruments for several Wits affiliated hospitals namely; Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.

The faculty hosts a web-based research data management tool called REDCap, which is quicker and more secure than paper-based.

Bioinformatics

WitsBITS offers Bioinformatics services to students and researchers in the Faculty of Health Sciences and the broader Wits community. The Bioinformatics services offered include project planning, data analysis & interpretation, pipeline/workflow implementation and basic training.

Established in 2014 as a division of WHC, a company wholly-owned by the University of the Witwatersrand. WitsBITS serves as a home for several clinical and biomedical informatics related projects that had been running in the Faculty of Health Sciences since August 2012.
